How does the Green Party of Pennsylvania decide what to do?
The State Committee decides the actions of the GPPA by doing the following:
1. Electing a 7 member Steering Committee to oversee day-to-day business.
2. Nominating candidates for state and federal office, along with municipal candidates in areas without a county party.
3. Approving organizing initiatives and expenses.
Members of the State Committee are called delegates. Delegates are allocated to affiliated county parties based on the number of registered Greens in that county relative to statewide Green voter registration. Alternate delegates are also permitted, in case a delegate cannot attend a meeting.
As a county affiliate of GPPA, the Montco Greens may have up to 6 delegates and 3 alternates. Currently, we have 4 delegate and all 3 alternate positions available.
At our next meeting, September 19th, 2016 at 7p.m. at Costa Deli in Ambler, we will have a special election to elect more delegates and alternates. If you want to have a voice in the Green Party in PA, this an excellent opportunity to do just that.
